


To mark The Queen’s 90th birthday, a beacon will be lit at Farnham Castle by the Mayor of Farnham, Pat Frost, at 7.30pm. Torches cost £5 and will be available to purchase in the High Street from 7pm-7.45pm. Beforehand there will be a torchlight procession that will take place from the Guildhall, proceeding across the town bridge and then up to the Mount for the lighting ceremony. The Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Nikki Nelson-Smith, will be lighting a beacon at the top of the Mount in a special ceremony at 7.45pm. The Queen will light the principal beacon at Windsor Castle, which will set in train a series of more than 1,000 beacons across the country and worldwide. To celebrate the Queen turning 90, towns and villages across Surrey and Hampshire will be lighting beacons on Thursday April 21.
